I hope you didn’t come here for the candy. I have something even better!
You may recall from my last post, that this question was sent to me:
In your second meeting with Neo, in Matrix Reloaded, what did you mean when you told him that he did not come here to make a choice, but to understand the choice he had made?
I previously spoke about ‘choice,‘ and we’re going to explore that a lot more in the future. For now though, I want to give you a little more insight into what’s behind the scenes with Neo’s journey in the Matrix story.
As you may recall, in Matrix Reloaded I told Neo he didn’t come ‘here’ to make the choice. So what did I mean by ‘here?’ I can tell you it wasn’t that nasty place with the bench we sat on.
Let’s go back to how I greeted him, as it connects to what this ‘here’ thing is about.
As he approached, I said,
“My goodness, look at you! You turned out all right, didn’t you?”
One of the deep topics explored in this Matrix4Humans project is the “path of the One.” It’s a metaphor for the idea of a spiritual path. It’s called the “journey of the soul” in the tradition that lies behind all of the ideas in the Matrix trilogy.
As with any journey of length, this one has specific stages to it – five to be exact. Each involves understanding and completing certain things that effect repair to one dimension, or level, of the soul before moving on to the next.
So, it’s time to sit down as here comes one of those ‘unbalance the equation’ moments.
The first three movies parallel the first three dimensions of the soul. If you haven’t looked yet, this is explained in our Knowledge Base. When I looked at Neo and told him that he, “turned out all right,” I was speaking of his successful rectification of the first level of his own soul.
Now, at the beginning of The Matrix Reloaded, he was now ready to engage with the second level. This brings us to our park bench scene.
When I said to Neo that he did not come ‘here’ to make a choice, the ‘here’ that I was referring to is this second stage of his soul journey which he is entering into.
Yes, he was still talking to the same old Oracle, only now our conversation was taking place in a new dimension – at another level. The same applied to our third meeting. We’ll get to that later.
I had Seraph meet Neo prior to this second rendezvous. He made sure Neo was ready. I’d go as far as saying it was for his own protection. That was part of the purpose of the fight they engaged in.
Remember what Seraph said about having to “fight someone to know them?” Well, in the language I speak, to ‘know’ means to make an intimate connection. It wasn’t so different than Neo coming to ‘know’ the basics of the Matrix by sparring with Morpheus. The fight scenes all represent something deeper.
The major ‘choice’ Neo made, took place when he embarked on the first part of the journey, by taking the red pill. That set the first condition that he had to fulfill, which he did by the end of the first movie. Having attained that, I placed a new condition before him.
That’s what I am here to do.
If you recall, he had some initial hesitancy:
Me: You’ve already made the choice, now you have to understand it.
Neo: No, I can’t do that. I won’t.
As I like to mention, there is no rest once you are on the path. I hate to say it, but stagnation eventually results in a falling away. There’s so much working against us – we have to keep at it – whether in the Matrix the first time or we’re reloaded or experiencing revolutions. All the way to the end – the final destination of The Matrix Resurrections.
And when you’re the One, it’s not only your own demise you have to worry about. It’s what the One is here to do.
Have a cookie. You’ll feel right as rain.
