We ended the previous article with a quote from “V For Vendetta,” so why not begin this, our 50th article in the Matrix4Humans Knowlege Base, with one from another Wachowski film:
Belief, like fear or love, is a force to be understood as we understand the theory of relativity and principals of uncertainty. Phenomena that determine the course of our lives … These forces that often remake time and space, that can shape and alter who we imagine ourselves to be, begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. Our lives and our choices, like quantum trajectories, are understood moment to moment. That each point of intersection, each encounter, suggest a new potential direction.
― David Mitchell, author of “Cloud Atlas”
This closely mirrors the words of a late-great modern-day teacher:
There are principles that govern human effectiveness – natural laws in the human dimension that are just as real, just as unchanging and unarguably there as laws such as gravity are in the physical dimension.
Stephen Covey, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”
(Note: In our upcoming second project phase, “The M-Files,” we will be investigating connections between proven methodologies such as the “7 Habits” and the kabbalistic ideas we’ve been exploring in the Matrix.)
Back to the Source
One of the concepts we mentioned in our first articles that of ‘pre-existence.’ This is the ‘fifth world’ of pure singularity, and the “transcendent” concept of God. In the Matrix movies, this is represented by “the Source,” which lies ‘outside’ of the Matrix and program worlds.
As discussed, this isn’t even a ‘world’ like those within existence, as we have no way of comprehending it. Kabbalistic tradition says every ‘thing’ that comes into existence has its ‘essence’ in this hidden world of pre-existence. This includes all ‘human’ ideas, concepts, etc.
The above quote from the book author, David Mitchell (who is writing for The Matrix: Resurrections with Lana Wachowski) reflects this idea of “eternally existing” realities, that our lives (and our understanding) briefly ‘intersect’ with. We define these as rooted in the Worlds of Existence and System of Sefirot throughout Matrix4Humans.com.
Sometimes we’re able to make a strong connection with such things. There are people (such as the Wachowski siblings) who are able to do this more deeply than others. This can be a natural phenomenon as well as something a person can cultivate.
The 4-Step Path of the Wachowski Idea
Take the simple concept of how the Matrix movies “came about.” What we ‘see’ is a four-part path/process. This is the same for everything we create. We can’t avoid it as it follows the outline of the Worlds of Existence, the Levels of the Soul, “Jacob’s Ladder,” etc. — all discussed in our introductory materials. It’s the way things are in our reality.
To us, the path would look like this:
- The “original idea” of the Matrix movie, ‘appears’ in the “Wachowski mind”
- It gets developed into its themes, plots, characters, etc.
- It is written into a final script
- The movie itself is made
This follows the pattern of the Four Worlds of Existence:
- The singular point of ‘Atzilut’ the world of ‘existence’ prior to that of ‘creation’
- The first expansion of ‘Beriah’ the beginning/uppermost world of creation
- The descent through the ‘angelic’ world of ‘Yetzirah’
- The final expansion into ‘Asiyah’ the world of ‘making’ and physicality
Think back to the video clip and discussion of the opening scene of The Matrix Reloaded, which depicted the four worlds in terms of stages.
A more common example of this 4-step path might be:
1. Someone gets “a singular idea in their mind” … to build their own house
2. They then imagine what this house would look like (floors, rooms, doors/windows, landscaping, etc.)
3. They form the blueprint (bringing the idea from the mind toward physical reality – the ‘vav’)
4. The actual house is built
The question we’ve raised, and attempted to answer, in this Knowledge Base is, “where is an idea BEFORE it enters into existence – in advance of when it came into the mind of the person?”
Where was everything in “the Matrix” before it “came out of nowhere” entering into the Wachowski mind?
This is the 5th ‘world’ of Pre-Existence.
We see ourselves as ‘creators’ much like the Architect did. Yet there is something, which is actually ‘no-thing’ before ‘existence and any creation.
Remember this from our Architect profile:
Job 28:12 – Wisdom comes into being from nothingness.
A modern journalist/author conveys the idea in this interesting way:
“Ideas have no material body, but they do have consciousness, and they most certainly have will. Ideas are driven by a single impulse: to be made manifest. And the only way an idea can be made manifest in our world is through collaboration with a human partner. It is only through a human’s efforts that an idea can be escorted out of the ether and into the realm of the actual.”
Elizabeth Gilbert
Note: It is entirely possible for more than one person to “tap into” an idea at about the same time. This is the concept of “multiple discovery” (also known as “simultaneous invention”). People may be in different locations, often having little in common, and come up with very similar if not identical concepts. This has occurred in fields such as science and mathematics. (You can find one list here.)
Hidden Connections in the Wachowski Mind
It is interesting, that the three big Wachowski movies, present different dimensions of the theme of hidden connectivity:
- V For Vendetta showed hidden connections within the world around us.
- The Matrix reveals that there are connections between hidden worlds.
- Cloud Atlas presents the idea of connections running through time.
There you have it. Our physical existence, the spiritual worlds we cannot “naturally see,” and the timeline, where we find certain things repeating – though “not exactly the same,” as Agent Smith said.
There’s much to be learned from these films, that ‘connects’ to the eternal principles which kabbalah explains. As all of these forces, in essence, stem from the same ‘Source,’ they present themselves throughout our day-to-day reality in everything we think and do.
This brings us to the point of this whole project.
Matrix4Humans is Matrix For Humans
I believe that correct principles are natural laws, and that God, the Creator and Father of us all, is the source of them, and also the source of our conscience. I believe that to the degree people live by this inspired conscience, they will grow to fulfill their natures; to the degree that they do not, they will not rise above the animal plane.
Stephen Covey
Though the ‘4’ in the project title, Matrix4Humans, worked well with the ‘4th’ movie, there is another “cat we’re letting out of the bag.”
A deeper purpose is to take the eternal principles explained in kabbalah, and beautifully illustrated in the Matrix story, and “bring them down into reality,” in a manner that can help people better understand the framework of our existence and negotiate life in this ever-crazier world we live in. The next phase of the project may be considered, “Matrix FOR Humans.”
This relatess to the idea behind the movie title “Cloud Atlas” – that one could have a ‘fixed’ atlas/map for something that was continually changing, as clouds do. The concepts of kabbalah are eternal and never changing.
The Knowledge Base is the main part of “Phase One” of this project, revealing these kabbalistic concepts through the movies. We will add to it in the future, but for now (January 2021) we’re beginning to develop “Phase 2.”
We’re calling this, “The M-Files.” (We like clever titles!) Here we will make our own unique connections, with articles, blogs, podcasts, videos and a Matrix Zoom Conference in the fall of 2021.
